This Month:
This month, we'll focus on weather and sky objects before moving on to our organisms and environments unit. StarLab will arrive right after spring break, so we'll study constellations and hear star stories during those two weeks.
Home Connection(s):
- Allow your child to help you check the weather and decide what he/she should wear each morning. Second graders are working on recognizing how weather can affect what we wear, how we travel, and what activities we participate in.
- On a weekend, challenge your student to stay up late enough to find Orion the Hunter in the night sky. We focus on finding the 3 stars in a row that make up his belt first, and then identify the rest of his body.
Upcoming Events:
- StarLab will be at Old Union from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. Please make sure your student wears or brings socks to school on their Science Lab days, as students are required to remove their shoes prior to entering StarLab. Shoes that are easy on/easy off are preferred. :)
