Science Fair entries are due at school on Wednesday (December 3) in the morning; please bring them to the library. Judges will come on Thursday morning. Classes are invited to browse the projects on Wednesday or Thursday. If at all possible, please take your project home at 6:30 pm on Thursday (December 4). If that is not an option, students will receive their project Friday morning, as we need to clear the library for Christmas is for Children.
Family Science Night is Thursday, December 4 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. There will be science investigations and engineering opportunities in the cafeteria, science projects in the library, Super Science Sale in the lab, and telescopes from the Fort Worth Astronomical Society on the playground from 5:30 - 6:30 pm (weather permitting). It should be a fun evening, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!
If you are available at all during December 1-5 to help with the sale or Family Science Night, please sign up for whatever time(s) are convenient for you:

This Month:
This month, we are finishing our land form unit with an eruption! Students will make a model volcano (complete with accurate inside parts) in class and erupt it with their table.
Home Connection(s):
- Lots of students love making "eruptions," and they are so easy to do. If you have baking soda and vinegar, let your child explore with them in the kitchen. (Putting a tub or pan under the explosion site helps with clean up!) We learned in class about the magma chamber, central vent, and side vent inside a volcano; challenge your student to use this information to make an accurate volcano model independently at home.
- Traveling for the holidays? Encourage your child to look out the window to discover land forms along the way.
