This Month:
This month, we are finishing our unit on force, motion, and energy, and beginning our exploration on weather and things in the sky.
Home Connection(s):
- Let your child check the weather each night before bed; he/she can decide on what to wear and what after-school activities might be appropriate, based on the weather. In second grade, we focus on temperature, forecast (snow, rain, sunshine, etc.), and wind.
- Stars a big part of our sky unit. On a weekend, let your child go outside to see if he/she can identify some constellations!
Upcoming Events:
- StarLab, a traveling planetarium, is coming to Old Union the two weeks after Spring Break. On these days, students will enter the planetarium (set up in the Science Lab) with me, and explore stars, constellations, and star stories. On these days, please make sure your student wears socks. No-tie shoes are also preferable. You may also want to send your child with a light jacket, as students who sit by the fan might get chilly. I'm looking forward to our StarLab experience together!
