This Month:
This month, we are finishing our matter unit by exploring how matter can dissolve, and then moving into our geology unit.
Home Connection(s):
- If you're open to a little mess, your child could experiment with various kitchen substances to find out which ones dissolve in water. You could take it a step further by finding out how much of a substance can be added to a set amount of water (say, 1 cup) before the substance will no longer dissolve.
- Encourage your child to start a rock collection. He/she can sort them into various groups, research rocks online, and find the "official" names for each rock in the collection.
Upcoming Events:
- Registration for the first annual Old Union Science Fair ends on Friday, November 7, 2014. If you make any changes to your project between now and December, please let me know if you will need an outlet for the Science Fair display. The project is due at school on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Science Fair projects will be displayed in the library during Family Science Night on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.
