This Month:
This month will start and stop with studies on living organisms, but we'll take a two-week break in between for our turn at the traveling planetarium, StarLab. While studying living organisms, we'll focus on understanding why objects are classified as living or nonliving. In StarLab, students will get a chance to see constellations and hear stories about the stars that have been passed on for many years.
Home Connection(s):
- Give your child opportunities to distinguish whether something is living or nonliving and to -- most importantly -- explain why the objects belongs in the specified category.
- On a weekend, challenge your student to stay up late enough to find Orion the Hunter in the night sky. We focus on finding the 3 stars in a row that make up his belt first, and then identify the rest of his body.
Upcoming Events:
- StarLab will be at Old Union from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. Please make sure your student wears or brings socks to school on their Science Lab days, as students are required to remove their shoes prior to entering StarLab. Shoes that are easy on/easy off are preferred. :)
